“Maulawi Abdul Hamid”: Yazid Was Concerned with the Survival of His Own Rule

“Maulawi Abdul Hamid” in his sarcastic remarks addressed to the government announced that Yazid was seeking to preserve his own rule.

Today, Friday, the sixth of Mordad, coinciding with Ashura, Maulawi Abdul Hamid, the leader and Friday prayer imam of the Sunni community in Zahedan, in his speech today referred to the historical event of Ashura and said: “Yazid committed all his crimes for the survival of his own rule. For the survival of a rule, people should not be killed.”

Abdul Hamid Esmaeilzahi has repeatedly reacted to and protested against the killing of protesters by regime forces in his speeches after Friday prayers, but today without reservation and directly in his speech, which coincided with the day of Ashura, he alluded to the rulers of the Islamic Republic and declared that a government is not worth people dying for it. No government, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, should kill other human beings for its own survival.

In recent months, Maulawi Abdul Hamid, in reaction to the arrest of protesting people and their imprisonment as political prisoners and action by people against national security, has repeatedly called for dialogue between the government and the people and the release of prisoners. He now, on the day of Ashura, while alluding to Yazid’s actions, added with sarcastic remarks addressed to regime officials: “Yazid was not open to dialogue and criticism, nor was he amenable to reform, and this was indicative of his inability to manage.”

With these statements, Maulawi Abdul Hamid questioned the leader of Muslims and his management and plainly declared that Khamenei is not only unwilling to engage in dialogue and accept criticism, but is also incapable of listening to the people and governing the country. According to his remarks, a ruler should not show arrogance before the people.

While referring to Ali Khamenei’s remarks, who has repeatedly attributed people’s protests to enemies, he said: People should not be confronted and then everything attributed to the enemy. Maulawi Abdul Hamid in his speech, which coincides with the day of Ashura, also reacted to religious superstitions and added: “Neither Mecca saves, nor Medina, neither Qom saves, nor Mashhad, but rather the deeds of each person are what save him. Why should we pull wool over our own and people’s eyes?”

He concluded his speech by announcing that his warning is not only addressed to Shiites, but also includes all Sunnis and followers of other religions.
