Mohammad Saidi, Former Member of Nuclear Negotiation Team Arrested

An informed judicial source reported that Mohammad Saidi, a member of the former nuclear negotiation team, has been arrested on charges of financial corruption. It is stated that his arrest has no connection to nuclear matters and is related to a case involving the Iranian Shipping Organization.

An informed judicial official announced the arrest of Mohammad Saidi, stating that his detention has no connection to nuclear matters and his name has been mentioned for some time in a corruption network within the shipping company.

This informed judicial official added that the shipping company case is among the well-known cases of the judicial system.

Mohammad Saidi was appointed as CEO of the Iranian Shipping Company, affiliated with SHESTA (Social Security Organization Company), from 2015 onwards during Hassan Rouhani’s government. He resigned in August 2019 and in November of the same year was prosecuted by the State Inspection Organization on charges of bribery and other financial violations during his management period, and was ultimately arrested. He was temporarily released on bail but has now been arrested again.

Following Saidi’s resignation, some media outlets attributed his resignation to the “seizure of an Iranian oil tanker” in Gibraltar, while others cited “financial corruption.”

Some time ago, Shargh newspaper announced the arrest of “A.A.Gh.,” a member of the board of directors of the Iranian Shipping Organization, and referred to him as the “black box” of the company, reporting in its coverage the acquittal of the resigned and arrested CEO of this company.

RajaNews website writes in this regard that based on documents it obtained, Mohammad Saidi, a member of former Hassan Rouhani’s nuclear negotiation team in the Saadabad negotiations and head of the shipping company from 2015 to 2019, has not only been acquitted, but has been arrested again for more than a month with increased bail conditions.

Mohammad Saidi has been a permanent member of Iran’s nuclear negotiation team for five years since the beginning of the nuclear case. He was also Vice President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran during Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government.

Iranian media reported in November 2019 that one of the managers of the shipping company affiliated with SHESTA was arrested for receiving four million dollars in bribes and was later released after paying bail.
