New IMF Report on Iran’s Economic Growth in 2020

The International Monetary Fund in a new report published on Wednesday, June 24, on its website states that Iran’s economic growth for the current solar year will be negative six percent.

This index was negative 7.4 percent for 2019 and negative 5.4 percent for 2018.

Based on the estimates of this international institution, Iran’s economic growth for the next year will be positive 3.1 percent.

The International Monetary Fund’s estimate regarding Iran’s economic growth for the current and next year has not changed compared to the previous report from this institution released in April.

The prediction of negative six percent economic growth for Iran by the International Monetary Fund comes at a time when recently Peyman Qorbani, the deputy governor of the Central Bank for economic affairs, claimed in an interview with Tasnim News Agency that the “non-oil economic growth” of the country will be positive in the current year.

Based on the International Monetary Fund’s estimates, Iran’s non-oil economic growth for the current year will be negative six percent and Iran’s oil economic growth will be negative 5.9 percent.

The International Monetary Fund has also predicted that global economic growth in 2020 due to the spread of coronavirus will be negative 4.9 percent.
