Norway Summons Iran’s Ambassador Over Alleged Murder Plot in Denmark

Norway summoned Iran’s ambassador on Thursday. The summons came after Denmark accused Tehran of planning to assassinate an Iranian-Arab opposition figure in Denmark through a coordinated operation.
Reports indicate that an Iranian-Norwegian citizen was also involved in the alleged plot.
Denmark announced on Tuesday that it believes Iran’s intelligence service attempted to carry out an assassination operation on Danish soil.
Denmark has now called for broad European Union sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Meanwhile, an Iranian-Norwegian citizen was arrested on October 21 in Sweden in connection with the alleged murder plot in Denmark and was handed over to Danish authorities.
Norway’s Foreign Minister stated in a statement that during the summons of Iran’s ambassador, emphasis was placed on the fact that the activities discovered in Denmark are unacceptable and that Norway takes this matter seriously.
The Iranian-Norwegian citizen and the Iranian government have rejected the allegations, stating they have no connection to the plot that Denmark has described.
