Obama: Nature of terrorist threats has changed since September 11

Barack Obama, President of the United States, paid tribute on Saturday to the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001, stating that since that time, the nature of terrorist threats has changed, but the core values that have made America great and resilient remain steadfast.
The U.S. President clarified that terrorist attacks have not caused the core values for which America is known to change.
Barack Obama dedicated his weekly radio message to the American people to the September 11, 2001 incident.
He said: “Fifteen years ago, September 11 became one of the darkest days in the history of our nation. The Pentagon was set ablaze and nearly three thousand innocent people lost their lives.”
While paying tribute to the victims of these attacks, the U.S. President praised the efforts and sacrifice of rescue workers, armed forces, and all those who spared no effort in saving lives and protecting people.
Barack Obama continued by referring to the steps America has taken in fighting terrorism, stating: “Over the past fifteen years, much has changed. We have dealt devastating blows to the leaders of al-Qaeda who were responsible for these attacks. We have brought justice regarding Osama bin Laden (the leader of al-Qaeda).”
The U.S. President stated: “At the same time, terrorist threats have changed over these years, as we saw in the attacks in Boston, San Bernardino, and Orlando in Florida.”
He added: “Likewise, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and beyond, we will continue an unrelenting fight against terrorists such as al-Qaeda and ISIS (Islamic State group), eliminate them, and will do everything in our power to protect our homeland.”
The U.S. President said: “In confronting terrorism, the main issue is how to respond to it. We must not be held captive by those who want to divide us. We must not respond in a way that tears the fabric of our society apart.”
Barack Obama had also called on Friday for commemorating the memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks during the current days.
