One Killed in Church Shooting in California State

At least one person was killed in a shooting at a church in southern Los Angeles, California. According to police, four others were seriously wounded. Church attendees were able to stop the attacker, otherwise more casualties would have occurred.
On Sunday, May 15, a shooting at Geneva Church, belonging to the Presbyterian Church (a branch of Protestant Christianity) in the city of Laguna Woods, approximately 70 kilometers south of Los Angeles, resulted in one death and several people with serious injuries being transported to hospitals. All victims were adults.
Based on preliminary police findings, this armed attack was carried out by a man of Asian descent. The Orange County Police Department stated that the attacker’s motive is still unclear and police are investigating the matter. According to the Los Angeles Times report, the victims were mostly of Asian descent, with most of them being Taiwanese.
Church attendees were able to overpower the attacker and restrain him until police arrived. They tied his legs with rope and confiscated his two weapons. According to police, through this brave action, they were able to prevent additional injuries and deaths.
Laguna Woods has a population of approximately 190,000 people. The Los Angeles Times reported extensive police presence in the city.
The shooting at the church in Laguna Woods occurred one day after an armed man in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York killed at least 10 people and wounded three others. The FBI special prosecutor in this case stated that police are investigating possible right-wing motives and extremist violence in this attack.
This crime sparked widespread outrage across America. The White House announced that Joe Biden, the President, and Jill Biden, the First Lady of America, intend to travel to the city on Tuesday to “mourn with the local people.”
