One-Year Prison Sentence for Narges Mohammadi Convicted of Propaganda Against the System

Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of propaganda against the system.
Narges Mohammadi, a political prisoner held in Evin Prison, for whom another case was opened during her detention, was sentenced to one year in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
Narges Mohammadi has repeatedly written and published letters from inside prison regarding the torture and mistreatment of prisoners, and during her imprisonment, additional cases have been opened against her, with prison sentences of varying lengths issued, and the hearing on her charges was held without her presence.
Recently, following the publication of a letter from inside prison, Narges Mohammadi, while referring to the charges against her, also reported sexual assault against detained women by security forces during arrest and interrogation phases.
According to the ruling by Judge Mazloom, head of Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, she has now been sentenced to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the system.” Narges Mohammadi was also sentenced by Branch 1177 of the Criminal Court of Quds Judicial Complex in Tehran regarding a case opened against her during her period of detention, to 30 months in prison, 80 lashes, and payment of two fines.
