Prince Pahlavi’s Warning Message to Medical Personnel in the Midst of Bloody Crackdown on Protesters

Prince Pahlavi, amid the current situation in Iran, sent a warning message to medical personnel and physicians who find themselves in the midst of suppression and humanitarian crisis in Iran.

Concurrent with the intensification of the crackdown on nationwide protests in Iran, multiple reports have been published regarding the arrest of physicians and members of medical staff for treating the wounded from the protests; an action that human rights organizations describe as an apparent violation of humanitarian and medical obligations and the extension of suppression into the medical field of the country.

Informed sources say several doctors and nurses in different Iranian cities have been arrested by security forces after treating wounded protesters. According to these reports, government forces, by their presence in hospitals and medical centers, have identified the wounded and pressured medical personnel, a process that has brought an atmosphere of fear and insecurity even to medical centers in the country.

In such circumstances, Prince Reza Pahlavi, by issuing a message addressed to physicians, nurses, and medical personnel, warned about the current situation and thanked them for their role in saving the lives of the wounded. In his message, he wrote: “My message is to the medical community, nurses, and medical personnel. Many of our fellow citizens in the path of freedom of the homeland have been wounded by the Islamic regime’s hand. Multiple reports show that government officials and regime mercenaries stationed in hospitals and clinics identify the wounded and hand them over to the suppression apparatus.

Medical personnel, medical centers, and hospitals, despite unprecedented dangers, threats, and pressures, have played an important role in treating the wounded of the revolution of the Lion and the Sun, away from the eyes and dirty hands of regime mercenaries. I sincerely thank all of you for adhering to your professional oath, human conscience, and fulfillment of your national duty, and I ask you to continue this valuable effort with doubled determination.

Collect the names of those who create obstacles in the path of treating the wounded of the national revolution and cooperate with the suppression apparatus so that their crimes and betrayals are addressed at the appropriate time.

Iran’s occupying regime has imposed an unequal war on our people and, with naked and brutal violence, has committed crimes against humanity. Together and alongside each other, we will pass through this great catastrophe and will write a free, bright, and safe future for our homeland and nation.

Long live Iran, Reza Pahlavi.”

The arrest of physicians and pressure on hospitals is taking place while, based on international law and fundamental principles of medical ethics, the treatment of the wounded without discrimination is an inalienable duty. Nevertheless, reports show that the Iranian government is attempting to block the path of assistance to wounded protesters by securitizing medical treatment.

Human rights activists have warned that this process could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe where the wounded, out of fear of arrest, refrain from going to medical centers and lose their lives.

In circumstances where streets, prisons, and now hospitals have become fields of suppression, Prince Reza Pahlavi’s message to medical personnel is not only gratitude, but also a political and human warning about the depth of Iran’s current crisis; a crisis in which even saving human lives is considered a crime.
