Reactions to Nikki Haley’s Resignation from U.S. Representation at the United Nations

Nikki Haley, the permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations, officially announced on Tuesday during a joint press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House that she is stepping down from her position.
President Trump, while thanking Ms. Haley for her service and accepting her resignation, stated that Nikki Haley will remain in this position until the end of the year, and a recommended candidate to succeed her will be introduced within the next two or three weeks.
Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States, immediately wrote in a tweet: I sincerely thank Nikki Haley for her extraordinary service as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
In a statement released for this occasion, he said that Ms. Haley’s clear and straightforward assessment of global threats, as well as necessary reforms within the United Nations, represented the best of American leadership.
Ivanka Trump, daughter of the U.S. President, called Nikki Haley a bold and fearless reformer in a tweet and wrote that she is an unparalleled champion of truth, principled realism, and human dignity at the United Nations.
Paul Ryan, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, described Nikki Haley as a strong and powerful voice in defense of American interests and democratic principles on the global stage, saying she worked with friends and adversaries alike to make the world better.
Ed Royce, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, also commended Ms. Haley’s service, saying that because of your continuous efforts to promote democracy, human rights, and stability in the world, America is stronger.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham considered Nikki Haley’s record at the United Nations extraordinary and said she demonstrated a level of effectiveness that few before her in this position had rarely shown.
Lindsey Graham, the Republican representative from South Carolina in the Senate, is from the Republican Party. Before Nikki Haley began her work at the United Nations in early 2017, she was the Governor of South Carolina.
Marco Rubio, Republican representative from Florida in the Senate, also wrote in a tweet that Nikki Haley was a strong voice for the United States at the United Nations and also in defending ethics in this international institution.
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, AIPAC, praised Nikki Haley’s strong leadership in representing the United Nations in a tweet and thanked her for standing up in defense of American interests, as well as her ally Israel.
Mark Dubowitz, president of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, also posted a message on Twitter saying that history will remember Nikki Haley as the most effective U.S. representative to the United Nations.
