Regime Forces Threaten to Seal Shops in Zahedan

Forces of the Islamic Republic regime have threatened shopkeepers with sealing their businesses if they do not reopen their stores.

The people of Baluchestan today, Saturday, the 8th of Mehr, which coincides with the anniversary of Bloody Friday in Zahedan, launched a strike in protest and closed their shops throughout Baluchestan. The shop closures by merchants extended to the village of “Nobandian,” which is located on the transit route to Chabahar and is one of the major commercial centers on the Iranshahr to Chabahar axis.

Sofidabe Nimrooz, Rasooli Crossroads, Chabahar, Zahedan, Shiraz District, and many cities across Sistan and Baluchestan Province joined the strikes. Early this morning, Saturday, the 8th of Mehr, the people of Baluchestan on the transit route to Chabahar, which is the path for truck traffic, proceeded to burn vehicle tires and block the aforementioned route.

Intelligence agency forces, in response to the shopkeepers’ strike, raided the bazaar and threatened some shop owners with sealing their stores. Despite the pressure and threats from the regime’s security forces, none of the shopkeepers agreed to reopen their stores. It should be noted that military helicopters are flying over the skies of Zahedan and a severe security atmosphere has been imposed on the city.
