Residents of Dehshir Village Deprived of Drinking Water

Residents of Dehshir village in Taft county are deprived of drinking water.

Following water scarcity tensions in Baluchestan and the drowning of many children in the province’s rivers due to drinking water supply issues, residents of Dehshir village, a suburb of Taft county, have now gathered in front of the Yazd provincial governorate office protesting their deprivation of drinking water.

The inhabitants of this village, whose population does not exceed several hundred people, are deprived of and have been denied access to clean drinking water, and have demanded officials address this critical problem and provide drinking water supply. Despite protests and gatherings by the village residents, the relevant authorities have so far taken no effective measures to resolve the water scarcity, which is a very serious problem.

The absence of drinking water in various cities across Iran’s hot regions comes at a time when a video was recently circulated on social media showing the transfer of drinking water from Iran to Dubai through very large diameter pipes, indicating the sale and transfer of drinking water from Iran to Dubai. Drinking water, which is the right of the Iranian people and should be accessible to all people in all cities, is being exported to neighboring countries, while Iranians, particularly in various villages, are deprived of access to clean drinking water and are forced to go to nearby rivers and, despite the risk of drowning, bring the water they need—which is not even safe to drink—to their homes.
