School Guard Assaults 6-Year-Old Christian Girl

A 6-year-old Christian girl in Lahore, Pakistan was assaulted by her school guard.

The International Christian Organization (ICC) released a report regarding the assault of a 6-year-old Christian girl in Lahore, Pakistan. According to the reports, in early November, the 6-year-old girl was assaulted by her school guard named Hussein, who was Muslim.

According to the Christian organization, the girl’s family stated that their daughter attends a private school and Hussein, the Muslim school guard, assaulted her solely because their daughter was Christian. The family declared: “When our daughter came home, there were bloodstains on her clothes and bruises on her body. We discovered that the school guard placed his hand over our daughter’s mouth to prevent her from screaming and assaulted her.” This Christian family, while referencing the sexual abuse of their daughter by the school guard, identified him as an assailant.

After the girl’s family visited the school and spoke with the school principal, they initially faced denial of the incident by the principal, who stated that their daughter was injured because she fell in the school courtyard. However, after much discussion and confrontation, the principal admitted that unfortunately the incident did occur but claimed he could not take any special action.

The girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transferred to a hospital for physical and psychological treatment, and her family filed a complaint against the school guard. Police have arrested Hussein and are currently investigating the case.

This shocking incident is not occurring in Pakistan for the first time and will not be the last. Repeatedly, Pakistani Muslim men have sexually harassed young girls and children who are Christian because of their Christian faith, or have kidnapped them and forced them to convert to Islam. One member of the International Criminal Court also responded to this bitter event, saying: “This incident is regrettable. Schools should be safe places for education and development. Unfortunately, this case demonstrates that Christians are still regarded as vulnerable targets by the majority of Pakistani society, and likely will not pursue justice due to threats.”
