Shooting in Las Vegas Leaves 58 Dead and Over 500 Wounded

Joseph Lombardo, Chief of the Las Vegas Police Department, announced that a shooting near the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas resulted in 58 deaths and over 500 wounded.

The television network CNN, in reporting this news, noted that this incident is considered the deadliest shooting in American history.

According to reports, the shooter’s name is Stephen Paddock. He was 64 years old and a resident of Mesquite.

Stephen Paddock committed suicide before police entered his hotel room.

Las Vegas police had previously stated that they had stopped the armed suspect.

According to police, this person was a resident of the city. Police had previously announced that they were searching for an Asian woman named Marilou Danley, who was with the attacker during the shooting.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. local time on Sunday near a concert venue that was holding an outdoor event. According to police, the attacker, from the thirty-second floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, targeted concert attendees with an automatic weapon.

One eyewitness reported hearing gunfire for approximately five minutes.

Hundreds of people fled the shooting scene, and videos and photos of the incident were posted on Twitter.

Several police officers were injured during the shooting, with one reported to be in critical condition.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, expressed condolences to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting in a tweet.

Flights to the McCarran International Airport have been halted.

No information about the motive for the shooting has been available so far.
