Sorkh Abad Church

Sorkh Church is a church that has a close connection with the history of Iran’s railways. Sorkh Church, with dimensions of three meters by three meters, is located in Sorkh Abad village in Sowad Kohgiluyeh.
Sorkh Abad Church dates back to the early Pahlavi period and is located in Sowad Kohgiluyeh county, in Sorkh Abad village. This structure was registered as one of Iran’s national monuments on August 28, 2003 with registration number 9271. The Sowad Kohgiluyeh church, which has a rectangular plan on the eastern side of the Sowad Kohgiluyeh road, is located 90 kilometers south of Qaem Shahr in Sorkh Abad.
This church was built in the early Pahlavi period for conducting religious ceremonies for railroad workers and is currently on the verge of complete ruin. Sorkh Abad Church, which is built of brick and plaster with a mud-brick base, has a galvanized corrugated iron roof. The floor of this structure is concrete and its walls are covered with white cement. An inscription in Italian is engraved above the door of this church. The German Church is the smallest church in Iran.
