Strike in Paw Market in Protest of Death and Injury of 9 Porters

Reports from Kurdistan Province indicate that merchants in the city of Paw have gone on strike in protest of the killing of two porters and the wounding of seven other porters by the border forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, the border guards of Nowsud in Paw County opened fire on a number of porters on Sunday, Bahman 27, killing one porter named Ahmad Sahraii and wounding eight others.

Also on Monday, Shahid Adak, one of the wounded porters, died in the hospital. He was 20 years old, from the village of Zhivar in Sarv Abad city, and was unmarried.

According to the report, after the shooting of these porters, a group of citizens of Nowsud gathered at the health center of this county and chanted slogans against the border guards.

Based on reports, a number of Paw merchants have also gone on strike in protest of this action by border forces.

Based on statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, since the beginning of Azar this year until now, six porters and traders have been killed and 55 others wounded by gunfire from the military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the border areas of Kurdistan.

Meanwhile, in recent days, three porters in Marivan, Piranshahr, and Maku have been wounded by gunfire from border guards.
