Suicide Attempt by Teenage Girl in Tehran

A teenage girl in Tehran attempted to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge, but law enforcement intervened to prevent her action. The share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides has been reported by the Forensic Medicine Organization to be over 7 percent.
According to Hrana news agency, citing IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), the head of Tehran’s suicide prevention police reported the prevention of a suicide attempt by an approximately 18-year-old teenage girl in the city.
Jalil Moqufahi stated in this regard: The commander of Police Station 190 in Majidieh, while off-duty and outside the station’s jurisdiction, noticed the suspicious behavior of a teenage girl on the bridge at the intersection of “Imam Ali” and “Shahid Soleimani” highway in Tehran.
Moqufahi noted: When he realized that the teenage girl intended to commit suicide and throw herself off the overpass, he took action to grab her and prevented her from doing so.
This security official added: The approximately 18-year-old teenager was transferred to the station’s counseling department, where it was determined that she intended to commit suicide due to family problems. After counseling, she was returned to her family.
