Swiss Government Bans Hamas Terrorist Group Activities

The Swiss government has announced a ban on the activities of the Hamas terrorist group based on new legislation.
The Swiss government announced on Wednesday, February 22, a new law that will ban the activities of Hamas and its cover organizations or successor organizations, as well as any organizations or groups that represent or act on behalf of Hamas.
The Swiss government, referring to the October 7 attacks (October 26) by Hamas against southern Israel, which resulted in the death of at least 1,200 people and the start of the war in Gaza, announced that two Swiss citizens were also killed in those attacks. As a result, the Swiss government intends to ban Hamas activities.
Following this decision, the Swiss government stated: “The purpose of this ban is to punish Hamas for terrorist attacks in October and to prevent this group from using Switzerland as a safe haven or carrying out attacks in the country by implementing entry bans or facilitating the expulsion of its members. This ban also assists Swiss authorities responsible for combating money laundering in better information exchange with their counterparts abroad and in countering the financing of terrorism.”
According to the Swiss government’s statements, this law has entered the consultation phase and its implementation will be limited to five years. Furthermore, the United States, Britain, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and several other countries have listed Hamas as a terrorist organization.
