Trump Supports Two-State Solution for Israeli and Palestinian Peace in Middle East

The president of the United States said on Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that he wants a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
According to Reuters news agency, Donald Trump said in a meeting with Israel’s prime minister: “I like the two-state solution. It’s a way that I think has the best outcome… that’s my feeling.”
This is President Trump’s most explicit statement on Middle East peace; his administration had previously said that if both sides want, it supports the solution of creating two independent Palestinian and Israeli states.
The Trump administration has promised to present a proposed package to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and establish peace in the Middle East; however, no specific timeline for its release has been announced.
The U.S. president said in late August in his latest statement that Israel will “pay” in this plan and Palestinians will receive “very good things” in return.
Some U.S. officials told the Associated Press in mid-August that he is forming a special team to introduce and advance his plan for achieving peace between Palestinians and Israel.
The United States has been seeking to achieve Middle East peace for years, but President Trump’s December decision last year to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has caused Palestinian discontent.
Nikki Haley, the U.S. representative to the United Nations, said in early August that Palestinian leaders have been kept away from reality because Arabs are afraid to tell the truth, but Washington is telling them the truth.
