Two Explosions in Zahedan Injure Several Police Officers

Following a “massive explosion” heard in Zahedan, the commander of law enforcement in Sistan and Baluchestan province announced the detonation of a homemade “grenade” and a “suspicious package,” resulting in injuries to three officers.
The Young Journalists Club website reported on Tuesday evening, November 30th, that a “massive explosion” was heard near Police Station 12 in Zahedan.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ghanbari, commander of law enforcement in Sistan and Baluchestan province, stated: “At 20:30 tonight, an explosion was heard on Baath Boulevard in Zahedan. Following the arrival of law enforcement personnel at the scene and investigations conducted, it was determined that this sound resulted from the throwing of a homemade explosive grenade.”
According to Ghanbari, a bomb disposal and neutralization team was dispatched to the scene and discovered another suspicious package in the same area following their inspection.
He added: “Law enforcement immediately evacuated the area, and this object detonated before it could be neutralized, resulting in three law enforcement personnel sustaining superficial injuries whose general condition is satisfactory.”
However, according to Mehr news agency, Fereydoon Rashidi, head of the emergency and disaster center at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences, reported the detonation of “two acoustic devices.”
He announced that four people were injured in this explosion and were transferred to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Jesh al-Adl group claimed responsibility for these explosions.
According to Reuters news agency, the group stated in a statement that the aforementioned explosions were “powerful.”
On Thursday, December 6th of this year, following a “massive explosion” of a car bomb at the entrance of the police headquarters of Chabahar city in Sistan and Baluchestan province, two people were killed and more than 40 were injured.
According to official sources, the driver of the vehicle intended to pass through security barriers and enter the police headquarters compound and detonate the car inside, but due to the resistance and gunfire of the building’s security forces, he was forced to detonate the vehicle at the entrance of this headquarters.
Some news agencies reported that the “Ansar al-Furqan” group claimed responsibility for this explosion.
“Ansar al-Furqan” is a splinter group from “Jundallah,” and the Islamic Republic announced in June 2017 that the leader of this group, Mullah Jalil Qanbarzadeh, was killed in Sistan and Baluchestan.
