U.S. Treasury Department Announces New Sanctions Against Quds Force and Other Terrorist Groups

The U.S. Department of Treasury announced on Tuesday, September 19, new sanctions against “a broad spectrum of terrorists and their supporters.”
The department stated in a released statement that given the expansion of legal tools it has at its disposal to combat terrorism, it is sanctioning several individuals, including a Quds Force official named “Mohammad Saeed Izadi.”
The U.S. State Department says Izadi is an official of the Quds Force and is based in Lebanon.
The sanctions also include “Zaher Jabaryan,” a direct liaison between Hamas and the Quds Force. The Treasury Department says Jabaryan, who is based in Turkey, is the head of Hamas’s financial affairs office and his focus is on increasing the receipt of financial aid from Iran.

According to the Treasury Department, this money changer has played a role in transferring several million dollars from Iran and Hezbollah to Hamas.
