US Forces on ‘Alert’ in Qatar and UAE During IRGC Exercise in Persian Gulf

On Tuesday, reports emerged regarding alerts and shelter-in-place procedures for US forces in Qatar and the UAE during an IRGC military exercise in the Persian Gulf.
Lucas Tomlinson, a Fox News correspondent, reported that during Iran’s military maneuver, following the impact of three missiles in waters near US military bases in Qatar and the UAE, American forces at these bases went on alert.
A US official also told the Fox News correspondent that the landing sites of these missiles were close enough to Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates to cause concern.
Barbara Starr, CNN’s defense correspondent, also stated that after intelligence indicated Iranian missiles were likely heading toward the US bases at Al-Udeid in Qatar and Al-Dhafra in the UAE, an alert was issued at these bases and personnel took shelter for several minutes.
This correspondent added, citing US officials, that these measures were precautionary in nature.
According to Iranian media reports, the final phase of the IRGC’s “Prophet Muhammad the Great 14” exercise is underway in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
The exercise is being conducted with the joint cooperation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and Aerospace Force.
In this context, the spokesman for the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet described the IRGC’s naval exercise in the Persian Gulf as “irresponsible and unwarranted.”
