US Sanctions 13 Foreign Individuals and Entities for Participation in Iran’s Missile Program

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that 13 foreign individuals and entities from countries including China, Iraq, Russia, and Turkey have been sanctioned in connection with Iran’s missile program and for violating the “Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 27, the US Secretary of State said the sanctions include five new sanctions against natural and legal persons in China and Turkey for supporting Iran’s missile program.

The statement indicates that companies such as “Lu Ding Wen, Booding Shimatuong Service Company with Limited Liability, Gaobeydian Industrial Company with Limited Liability, and Wuhan Sanjiang Import and Export Company” in China, and “Iren Carbon Graphite Industrial Trading Company with Limited Liability” in Turkey, are among the sanctioned companies.

According to the statement, the Chinese company Lu Ding Wen has also violated the law in transferring sensitive materials to Pakistan’s missile program.

Mike Pompeo added that these sanctions come after reviewing the program for preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, and include 13 natural and legal persons.

The US Secretary of State stated that this action is an indication that Iran’s missile expansion program is a cause for concern and has been taken in line with the United States’ efforts to utilize all means to prevent the advancement of Iran’s missile capabilities.
