US Sanctions Iranian Individual and Two Foreign Companies Linked to Mahan Air

The United States has placed two companies based in the United Arab Emirates and an Iranian national named Amin Mahdavi on its sanctions list. This individual and the sanctioned companies supply critical parts and services required by Mahan Air airline.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in a statement that it has sanctioned two companies, “Partiya Cargo” and “Delta Parts Supply (FZC).” These two companies supply critical parts and logistics services to Mahan Air airline.
The United States has sanctioned Mahan Air airline as part of its efforts against terrorism and countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, placing it on its blacklist.
According to Reuters news agency, the U.S. Department of the Treasury also announced that it has added an Iranian national named “Amin Mahdavi” to its list of sanctions against Iran. This individual is a resident of the United Arab Emirates and is the owner and operator of Partiya Cargo company.
Steven Mnuchin, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, stated in the announcement: “The Iranian regime uses Mahan Air as a tool to advance its destabilizing policies around the world and supports the corrupt regimes of Syria and Venezuela.”
Mnuchin added: “The United States will take action against anyone who supports this airline company.”
According to the Treasury Department statement, these individuals and entities will be placed on the blacklist and all their assets will be blocked. All U.S. citizens are prohibited from conducting transactions with these individuals.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury states that the two sanctioned companies, through providing their services to Mahan Air airline, have been complicit in “transporting terrorists and deadly cargo to Syria” to support Bashar Assad and also in sending technicians and technology to Venezuela.
On Monday, August 17, 2020, the Columbia District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Partiya Cargo and Amin Mahdavi for unauthorized export of aircraft parts to Iran.
