Fires in Arasbaran forests have been going on for two days.

The fire in the Arasbaran forests in East Azerbaijan province, which started two days ago, is still ongoing.

Mohammad Bagher Honarmand, Director General of Crisis Management of the East Azerbaijan Governorate, announced on Thursday, July 9, that assistance has been requested from the Ministry of Defense, the Tabriz Fire Department, and the Red Crescent Relief and Rescue Group to contain the fire.

According to him, the extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.

Meanwhile, Hamid Hosseinpour, CEO of the East Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, announced in an interview with ISNA that the "fire in Qaratkanlu" in the Arasbaran region has been completely contained.

In recent weeks, similar fires have destroyed dozens of hectares of forests and pastures in the provinces of Kurdistan, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh, and Boyer-Ahmad, and at least four environmental activists have lost their lives while helping to contain them.

In recent years, a large amount of Iran's forests and pastures have been destroyed by fires or construction, and environmental activist groups are criticizing the performance of the Islamic Republic's authorities in this regard.
