The United States strongly condemned the burning of the tomb of Esther and Mordechai, a holy site for Jews in Iran and around the world, in Hamedan.

Ilan Scott Carr, the US Special Representative for Monitoring and Countering Anti-Semitism, strongly condemned the burning of the tomb of Esther and Mordechai, a holy site for Jews in Iran and the world, in Hamedan.

Ilan Carr wrote on the Twitter account of the US Special Representative for Monitoring and Countering Anti-Semitism that the United States strongly condemns the attack on the tomb of "Esther and Mordechai" in Hamedan.

Referring to the threat three months ago to destroy the tomb, the Foreign Ministry official noted that the Iranian regime is the world's leading supporter of anti-Semitism. He warned that these Iranian actions must be stopped and the Jewish community and other minorities must be protected.

On Friday, Jonathan Greenblatt, president of the Anti-Defamation League, tweeted that the tomb of Esther and Mordecai, a Jewish holy site, had reportedly been set on fire in the Iranian city of Hamedan. A witness told VOA that fire trucks were heading to the tomb.

After this incident, leaders of several Jewish organizations in the United States condemned the burning of the tomb of Esther and Mordechai, a holy site for Jews in Iran and the world, and called on Iranian authorities to deal with the perpetrators of this incident.

Arthur Stark, William Daroff, and Malcolm Hoenlein, heads of Jewish organizations in America, reacted to the fire at the tomb of "Esther and Mordechai" in the Iranian city of Hamedan in a joint statement, writing that three months ago, a group of Basij fighters had threatened to attack and confiscate the tomb.

The tomb of Esther and Mordechai is located in the center of Hamedan, at the beginning of Dr. Shariati Street. This place is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Jews in Iran and the world. This tomb is registered as a cultural heritage site in Iran.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly spoken of the destruction of the State of Israel, and ten years ago, a group of Basij students threatened to destroy this shrine of Iranian Jews at a gathering in front of the tomb of Esther and Mordechai.
