Execution of two prisoners in Zanjan and Dastgerd prisons in Isfahan

HRANA News Agency – In the early hours of Wednesday, March 1, a prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Isfahan’s Dastgerd Prison. In the early hours of Monday, March 29, a prisoner accused of murder was executed in Zanjan Prison after being sentenced to flogging.
According to HRANA news agency, citing the Iranian Human Rights Organization, at dawn on Wednesday, March 1, 2021, a prisoner was executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
The prisoner, who was arrested four years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death, has been identified as Akbar Shahsavand, 36.
On the other hand, at dawn on Monday, March 29, 2021, the sentence of another prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death on murder charges was carried out in Zanjan Prison.
The prisoner has been identified as Murad Saleh Beg, approximately 45 years old, from Marand and a father of two children.
Before the execution of the death sentence, this prisoner, who had been arrested and imprisoned for this charge for about 5 years, was also given 74 lashes.
The execution of these prisoners has not been announced by the media inside Iran or official sources as of the time of this report.
According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death between January 1, 2021 and December 20, 2021. Among those executed, four child criminals were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial institutions, which human rights organizations call "secret" executions.
