Union protests continue in Iran: Homa retirees and nurses also held a protest rally

In the continuation of the nationwide strike of daily wage and contract workers in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, some groups and guilds in various cities of Iran are still holding protest rallies demanding that their guild and legal demands be addressed.

According to videos posted on social media, on Tuesday, July 5, nurses and social security medical staff gathered in front of the Social Security Organization's central building to protest the failure to fulfill their legal demands.

The protesting nurses are demanding that the Administrative Court of Justice consider their request to annul a ruling that allows the Social Security Organization to receive money for early retirement.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Social Emergency Service procurement forces at at least five centers have not been on duty for several days in protest of their unpaid wages and working conditions, as well as their lack of vaccination against the coronavirus.

According to ILNA news agency, these forces have not yet received the coronavirus vaccine, despite going on difficult missions and being in contact with different people daily.

A group of retired Homa Airlines employees and pilots also gathered in front of the parliament today, chanting slogans and demanding an investigation into the status of their pensions.

A number of maintenance workers on Tehran Metro Line 5 held a protest rally in front of the Karaj Metro Station for the umpteenth time on Tuesday, July 5th.

These protest rallies are being held in various cities in Iran, while previously, after political and civil activists and trade unions inside and outside the country supported the strikes of various trade union groups in Iran, a number of scientific and cultural figures and civil and political activists issued a statement in recent days supporting the nationwide workers' strikes.

The signatories of this statement, while supporting nationwide workers' strikes, emphasized the need to fight to create independent labor organizations instead of fake organizations affiliated with the government.
