Livelihood protests in Iran; Retirees, tax employees, and farmers gather in several provinces

In the wake of the ongoing protests in Iran, oil industry retirees held simultaneous protests in several cities. At the same time, farmers took to the streets in Isfahan, and telecommunications retirees gathered in the capital to demand their union's demands.

Protest rallies were held on Tuesday, April 13, in the cities of Shiraz, Arak, Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, Abadan, Yazd, Hamedan, and Ardabil.

Telecommunications retirees in Tehran took to the streets of the capital with slogans of "Death to the tyrant" and "Screaming out loud at all this atrocity."

However, according to reports, this gathering of Tehran telecommunications retirees was met with violence and arrests of protesters by the police.

Amir Kalhor, a journalist in Iran, reposted a video of a violent confrontation with protesters who had gathered to address their problems, and tweeted: "This is the status of pensioners in the Islamic Republic; kicking, beating, and throwing them to the ground."

This comes as the rally of pensioners in the Ahvaz oil industry was also tense. A video posted on social media shows one of the protesters at the Ahvaz rally saying: "Take my film and give it to the intelligence service; I am not afraid."

In addition, videos posted on social media show that on Tuesday, Isfahan farmers once again held a rally in front of the Isfahan Governorate to protest the lack of water rights.

One of the released videos depicts the words of a protesting farmer, who, in the presence of the police officers present at the scene, says that if the authorities are not held accountable, they will continue their protest by being on the street.

According to reports, specialized students at the Faculty of Dentistry in Tehran, Hamadan, and Yazd also protested in response to the "lack of increase in residency salaries."

At the same time, images of gatherings of tax affairs employees in several provinces, including Tehran and North Khorasan, have also been published.

In recent months, various trade union protests in Iran have increased dramatically.
