CSW criticizes US for ignoring religious freedom in negotiations

The Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) criticized the United States for ignoring religious freedom in negotiations with Iran.
CSW, a human rights and Christian organization that specializes in freedom of religion or belief and stands with all those facing injustice, criticized the United States for ignoring religious freedom violations during the nuclear negotiations with Iran.
The organization, while referring to the arbitrary arrest of Christian citizen Joseph Shahbazian by security forces, emphasized the violation of religious freedom by the Islamic Republic and called on the United States to seriously pursue the issue of human rights in international negotiations. The issue of ignoring human rights, especially religious and religious freedoms in the aforementioned negotiations, has attracted widespread criticism among human rights organizations.
“The omission of human rights issues from the negotiations appears to be part of a worrying pattern, one in which the international community is neglecting an opportunity to pressure the Iranian regime to comply with its international human rights obligations,” said Khotza Gondov, a director at CSW.
"We expect the United States government to not ignore the issue of human rights in any way in the continuation of negotiations, and we also call on the Iranian government to respect and support the rights and freedoms enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, including the right to freedom of religion and thought, for all citizens."
