Transfer of a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran to "solitary cell after 21 years of imprisonment"

The human rights organization Hengaw says that Khaled Fereydouni, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) Peshmerga, who has been in Urmia Central Prison without leave for 21 years, has been transferred to solitary confinement following a hunger strike to receive leave.
Mr. Fereydouni, who was arrested in September 2000, was initially sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court on charges of war crimes through his membership in the Kurdistan Party of Iran, but this sentence was changed to life imprisonment by the Court of Appeal.
Hamnegav writes that since Omar Faqirpour, another defendant in the case, was pardoned after 21 years in prison, Mr. Fereydouni also wrote a letter to the Urmia Intelligence Department requesting his release or at least being sent on leave, but they replied that "you are the first defendant in the case and the sentence is life imprisonment, so you will neither be released nor have the right to use leave."
The organization says that Fereydoun Khalili was transferred to solitary confinement by order of the head of Urmia Prison after protesting the rejection of his request by the Intelligence Department and simultaneously announcing a hunger strike.
