The first Minister of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic has passed away.

Mohammad Mohammadi Rey Shahri, the first Minister of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic, passed away in the final hours of the first day of the 1401 solar year.

Mohammad Mohammadi-Nik, 76, nicknamed Ray Shahri, was hospitalized in Khatam Al-Anbia Hospital in Tehran in recent days due to an underlying and internal illness.

He was the first Minister of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic, served as the country's Attorney General, represented the Assembly of Experts for three terms, and was the custodian of the shrine of King Abdulazim.

The arrest of Mehdi Hashemi, brother-in-law of Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri and member of the Supreme Command Council of the Revolutionary Guards, on charges of conspiracy against high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic, and his eventual execution, is considered one of the most high-profile events during Reyshahri's ministry.

After the victory of the 1979 Revolution, Reyshahri served as the Sharia judge of the Islamic Revolutionary Courts of Dezful, Behbahan, Gachsaran, Borujerd, Rasht, and Gonbad Kavous, and played a special role in implementing Islamic rulings. For this reason, many consider him one of the executors and perpetrators of widespread executions at the beginning of the Revolution and the 1960s.

He was the prosecutor of the Special Court for the Clergy for nine years, and during this time he disrobed many critical clerics.

Reyshahri competed with Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, Ali Akbar Nateg Nouri, and Seyyed Reza Zavarei in the seventh presidential election in 2018, but only managed to win less than 3 percent of the vote.
