Advertising for the sale of kidneys is a "violation"

ISNA news agency reported on Tuesday, citing an official from the Iranian Ministry of Health, that advertising and promoting the sale of kidneys, whether online or in the city, is a "violation."
According to an ISNA report, quoted by Mehdi Shadnoush, head of the Ministry of Health's Center for Transplantation and Disease Treatment Management, no law has been passed regarding this matter, but according to the Ministry of Health, this action has been prohibited and illegal from the beginning.
But for years, in Iran, and especially in Tehran, advertisements have been seen throughout the city, mostly near hospitals, where people in need have placed advertisements for the sale of their kidneys.
Mr. Shadnoush said: "Advertising about selling kidneys or creating a site or network and advertising in this field is a violation, and the Ministry of Health is monitoring this issue."
He also noted: "Laws should be created so that no one has the right to advertise about this."
The Ministry of Health official emphasized: "Monitoring the illegal buying and selling of kidneys and advertising in this area is beyond the capabilities of the Ministry of Health. Therefore, other relevant organizations must also get involved."
According to Mr. Shadnoush, “60 percent of kidney transplants [in Iran] are performed through brain-dead patients and 40 percent are performed through living donors.”
