Protest rally in Kazerun turns violent after police intervene

The people of Kazerun held a protest rally for the second consecutive day to protest the plan to divide the city and separate it into two parts.
The rally, which was held on Tuesday, April 18, turned violent after police officers intervened.
The demonstrators are protesting a plan that would separate the Ghaemieh and Kohmareh districts of Nodan from the city and turn them into Koh Chenar County in the country's divisions.
This plan is being pursued by Hossein Rezazadeh, a representative from Kazerun, who is said to be one of the areas discussed in the separation plan, his hometown.
The people of Kazerun, who gathered in front of the city's governor's office on Wednesday, believe that the separation plan will destroy the city's identity.
The rally then turned violent with police intervention, and images of clashes between police and people were published online.
Local officials and some Interior Ministry officials promised to implement the protesters' opinions in implementing the plan, but on the other hand, protesters have announced that they will continue their protests in the coming days.
The past two days of protests against the Kazerun division plan were attended by various guilds in the city, leading to the closure of the market.
The Kazerun division plan has been approved by the National Divisions Office and is currently awaiting final approval by the government.
