US Secretary of State tweets about Iran: When the regime steals from its own people, it destroys the country's economy

Referring to the forecast of a decline in Iran's economic growth, the US Secretary of State attributed this decline to the actions of the Islamic Republic government, including wasting Iranian capital in Syria.
Mike Pompeo wrote in a tweet on Monday, November 29, that the International Monetary Fund has predicted that Iran's economic growth will decline by 3.6% next year.
Mr. Pompeo added: "When the ruling regime steals from its own people, and instead of creating jobs for Iranians, it invests in (Bashar) Assad, it destroys the country's economy."
Officials in President Trump's administration, including Mr. Pompeo, have repeatedly referred to the destruction of Iranian assets in regional countries.
The US Secretary of State also tweeted three weeks ago: "While the Iranian people are struggling economically, the Islamic Republic of Iran has spent over $16 billion since 2012 to prop up Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his proxies in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen."
The United States government considers the Islamic Republic's behavior in the region, including its interference in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen, to be destructive.
In May of this year, President Trump issued an order to withdraw the United States from the JCPOA, declaring that the JCPOA would not prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons, while at the same time making Iran's behavior in the region more aggressive.
On June 1, Mike Pompeo, announcing the new US strategy towards Iran, listed 12 US conditions for an agreement with the Islamic Republic, which are in fact a list of US demands from the Islamic Republic, or in other words, details of changing the Iranian regime's behavior.
Some of these conditions include stopping support for Yemen's Houthi militias and Lebanon's Hezbollah, and Iran's complete withdrawal from Syria.
