Legal action by Ansiyeh Mahdavi, daughter of Fatemeh Sepehri

Fatemeh Sepehri is an Iranian political activist, women's rights activist, democracy activist, and political prisoner. She and her brother Mohammad Hossein Sepehri are among the signatories of a letter calling for the resignation of the Leader of the Islamic Republic. Fatemeh Sepehri was sentenced to imprisonment and flogging on charges of "disturbing public order and peace, as well as disturbing public opinion and spreading lies."

On August 4, 2019, Fatemeh Sepehri was one of the signatories of the statement of 14 female activists inside Iran who supported the statement of 14 political activists calling for Khamenei's resignation from the government. After that, on August 10, 2019, she was arrested by security officers in Mashhad along with her brother Mohammad Hossein Sepehri. She was first transferred to the Mashhad Intelligence Department detention center and then to the central prison (Vakilabad) in Mashhad.

After almost nine months in prison, she was released because she was the wife of a martyr; but after her conditional release, she said in a video message: "I will not give up, I will not remain silent, I have a lot to say. I will continue on this path and will not remain silent."

Fatemeh Sepehri was arrested again on September 20, 1401, when security officers raided her home and transferred her to an unknown location. This arrest took place after Fatemeh Sepehri's last interview with Iran International Television and coincided with the nationwide protests of 1401 in Iran.

On November 1, 2022, Ansiyeh Mahdavi, the daughter of Fatemeh Sepehri, announced in a video message that her mother had been held in the Mashhad Intelligence Organization's solitary confinement prison since her arrest and could barely speak after enduring more than a month of solitary confinement. Ansiyeh Mahdavi also stated that her attempts to transfer her to a general ward had been futile.

He addressed the people and said: "People of Iran and compatriots expelled from their homeland, and all those who yearn for freedom, my mother is Ali Khamenei's nightmare, who is busy killing children and adolescents of Iran these days to protect his throne. Before Ali Khamenei silences the cry for freedom of another of his opponents forever, reach out to the cry of my mother Fatemeh Sepehri and do something to save her."
