Due to lack of proper supervision, a clash with a cold weapon in Qezl-e Hassar Prison caused an incident.

HRANA News Agency – On Thursday, July 13, following a clash in Unit 2 of Qezl-e-Hsar Prison in Karaj, a prisoner was seriously injured and was transferred to a medical center outside the prison. Despite the fact that knives and other tools that can be used as cold weapons are prohibited from entering the prison, the lack of supervision and sometimes corruption prevailing in the prison’s management departments allow the entry or manufacture of cold weapons in the prison.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, one person was injured in a clash in Unit 2 of Qezl-e-Hesar Prison in Karaj on Thursday morning, July 13, 2022. The prisoner in question was sent to a hospital outside the prison due to serious injuries from a knife wound.

The identity of this prisoner has been confirmed by HRANA's Seyyed Jalal Vafaei.

According to reports received, Mr. Vafaei was injured with about 15 stab wounds following a fight in Hall 2, Unit 2 of the prison.

Despite the fact that knives and other tools that can be used as cold weapons are prohibited from entering prisons, lack of supervision and sometimes corruption among prison personnel make it possible for cold weapons to be brought into or manufactured in prisons.

According to the prison's internal laws, making and keeping weapons in prison is considered a crime, and prison officials are required to conduct regular inspections based on the prison organization's regulations to ensure the absence of such dangerous devices. Failure to monitor the implementation of the laws leads to such conflicts and endangers the lives of prisoners.

HRANA had previously reported on the problems of prisoners held in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. Prisoners held in this unit face many problems, including high population density, lack of ventilation and cooling systems, and lack of medical care.
