Two Basij members killed in clash with armed men in Korin, Zahedan

Reports indicate that two Basij forces from the "Security Project" in the Korin area of Zahedan have been killed in a clash with armed individuals.
According to IRNA, the public relations department of the 110th Salman Farsi Brigade of the Sistan and Baluchestan IRGC Ground Force announced on Thursday, July 19, without mentioning the exact time of the clash, that Alireza Shahbakhsh and Parviz Shahbakhsh, two Basij members of the security plan of the Korin area of Zahedan, were killed in a clash with "evil people".
The public relations department of the 110th Salman Farsi Brigade of the Sistan and Baluchestan IRGC Ground Forces has not provided further details about the clash or the identities of the armed men.
The funeral of the two Basij members is scheduled to be held on Friday in the village of Shoro, which is located in the Korin district of Zahedan, 90 kilometers from the city center.
Previously, "two local Basij members" and two border guards were killed during a clash with "villains" at the Mirjaveh border in April of this year.
Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran has, in recent years, been the site of clashes between the Islamic Republic's military and law enforcement forces and armed groups that Iranian officials refer to as "terrorists" and "villains."
Last year, the commander of the police force in Sistan and Baluchestan province announced the discovery of a "weapons depot" belonging to the Jaish al-Adl group in the south of the province. The location of the weapons depot was announced outside the city of Saravan.
The Jaish al-Adl group, which has repeatedly clashed with Iranian officials in this province, taking a number of them hostage or killing them, considers itself the defender of "Sunni" people in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
This is while Iranian officials describe this group as "terrorist" and affiliated with foreign countries.
