Prison authorities still refuse to allow Arash Sadeghi to be sent to the hospital

Despite the deteriorating condition of Arash Sadeghi, this imprisoned political activist continues to be denied access to appropriate medical services.

The Iranian Human Rights Organization reported Arash Sadeghi's condition as "very critical" and announced that "the lack of immediate treatment in the hospital could lead to his death. The Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, and the Head of the Judiciary, Ebrahim Raisi, are responsible for Arash Sadeghi's health and must be held accountable."

This political activist, who is imprisoned in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, has been diagnosed by doctors with a type of chondrosarcoma cancer tumor, but his transfer to medical centers outside the prison has been postponed once again.

A close friend of Mr. Sadeghi told the Iranian Human Rights Organization that “about 20 days ago, several officials went to the prison and saw Arash’s condition up close and verbally promised him that he would be sent to the hospital in July. But a few days ago, they changed their minds and said that no transfer would be made until September.”

This informed source also said about Arash Sadeghi's condition that "Arash's right hand is swollen more than before, from the shoulder blade to his fingers. This swelling has become more severe from the elbow down. Arash's hand is practically disabled and does not move at all."

Arash Sadeghi is serving a 15-year prison sentence for his human rights work. A few months ago, he was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Although doctors have confirmed that he needs to be examined and monitored for treatment of his illness, Iranian judicial and security authorities are not allowing him to undergo the examination and treatment process.
