Roya Hakakian rejects invitation from the Council on Foreign Relations
Roya Hakakian declined the Council on Foreign Relations' invitation to a meeting with Raisi.
Iranian writer and journalist Roya Hakakian was invited by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank to a meeting next month that Ebrahim Raisi will also be attending, but Ms. Hakakian declined the invitation due to Ebrahim Raisi's presence at the meeting.
Roya Hakakian, while pointing out that the aforementioned meeting is a political purge of someone who has committed many crimes, added: "The only place to talk to Ebrahim Raisi should be the court. Providing Ebrahim Raisi with an important platform at the Council on Foreign Relations only gives him legitimacy and is an insult to the protesters who fought for democracy and have been targeted with imprisonment, rape, and execution."
