"The dam in Iran's hospital system is breaking"

Payam Tabarsi, head of the infectious diseases department at Masih Daneshvari Hospital in Tehran, says that with the increase in the number of people infected with the Delta strain of Corona, the capacity of hospitals has reached its maximum, and according to him, the barrier in Iran's hospital system is being broken.

He emphasized that "the country's health system is collapsing."

According to Mr. Tabarsi, people's lack of sufficient familiarity with the mutated type of coronavirus and the increase in travel, gatherings, and religious ceremonies have caused the number of deaths and infections from this disease to rise sharply.

Despite the request of experts and the order of the Leader of the Islamic Republic to consider a two-week closure, the government of Hassan Rouhani and the Coronavirus Response Headquarters continue to refrain from imposing a complete quarantine on cities.

According to official statistics from the Ministry of Health, more than 39,000 people have been added to the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran in the past 24 hours.

According to statistics that are not confirmed by domestic and international experts, 378 patients with COVID-19 have also lost their lives.

As the number of infected people increased, the number of red cities reached 285, and in some areas, a severe shortage of hospital beds and medical staff has been reported.

Despite promises from health officials, only two million 850,000 people have received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine so far.
