Rafsanjan Governor's Office Acting, Who Tried to Hit "Todhani" Reporter, Was Dismissed

Reports from Iran indicate that the acting governor of Rafsanjan was dismissed by the Interior Minister's telephone order after he threatened a journalist with physical violence.

The Fars News Agency reported that following a public threat to a journalist by Ali Akbar Pourmohammadi, the acting governor of Rafsanjan, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi issued an order to dismiss the governor of Kerman in a phone call.

This action comes after Pourmohammadi threatened to physically attack and "slap" a journalist who asked him a question during a press conference in Kerman province.

According to a video of the meeting that was widely shared on social media, the acting governor of Rafsanjan responded to a reporter who asked him if it was true that he agreed to deliver water to a famous person because this person had beheaded a camel for him during his early administration.

Ali Akbar Pourmohammadi's response to this reporter at this public meeting was, "Repeat it one more time, I'll punch you in the mouth, be careful."

The publication of this video on social media sparked many reactions, especially from journalists working in local media.

This is not the first time that journalists in Iran have been publicly insulted and threatened by officials for their professional work and questions.

Previously, Kianoush Jahanpour, the public relations officer for the Ministry of Health and the spokesperson for the Food and Drug Administration in Hassan Rouhani's government, had called reporters who asked about the high price of the domestic coronavirus vaccine "Pfauses."
