The age of female heads of households in Iran has reached 14 years.

The CEO of the Imam Ali Society said: The average age of female heads of households in the country ranges from 18 to 60 years old. But in some provinces where child marriage is common, women as young as 14 to 15 years old are also responsible for the family. Currently, there are about 3 million female heads of households across the country, and statistics show that over the past 10 years, the number of families headed by women has increased by 58 percent compared to men.

He said: "The fact that the age of guardianship for women has reached 14 is a major problem that occurs as a result of events such as underage marriage and, as a result, divorces at a young age."
