Siamak Namazi tells Joe Biden to "end this nightmare"

Siamak Namazi, an imprisoned Iranian-American citizen, in an article published by the New York Times on Wednesday, July 29, called on US President Joe Biden to work to free him and other American citizens.

Namazi, entitles this request to "end the nightmare," and acknowledges that any agreement on the release of these citizens, which includes the release of Iranian prisoners in the United States or Iranian assets in foreign banks, will have political costs for Mr. Biden's administration.

Siamak Namazi, who holds the record for the longest prison term for an American citizen, wrote in an article published on Wednesday that the US government's approach, "which said it was difficult to imagine reviving the JCPOA without releasing the hostages," was correct, but the halting of those negotiations should not be an obstacle to efforts to free them.

With the start of a new round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, the family of Emad Sharghi, another Iranian-American prisoner, also called on the United States government in a statement to first release American prisoners before reaching an agreement on the JCPOA.

Currently, Siamak Namazi, Emad Sharghi, and Morad Tahbaz are three Iranian-American citizens imprisoned in Evin, and Baqer Namazi is not allowed to leave the country, despite his case being declared closed.
