War is always a defeat, with the only winners being the weapons manufacturers.

Pope Francis, speaking about war, said: "War is always a defeat whose only winners are the weapons manufacturers."
Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics, issued a new appeal against all wars on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, while referring to the horror of the mass murder of Jews and Nazi victims. "The memory and condemnation of the terrible murder of millions of people in the Holocaust may help everyone not to forget that the logic of hatred and violence can never be justified. Let us not tire of praying for peace, for an end to conflicts, for a cessation of arms, and for help for people," he said in a speech at the Vatican on Wednesday, January 24.
The Holocaust (Greek for "holocaust") refers to the mass murder and genocide of nearly six million Jews based on race, religion, and nationality during World War II by Nazi Germany in Nazi Germany's death camps.
In his speech, Pope Francis referred to the war between Israel and Hamas and the bombing of civilians in Ukraine, calling the country a martyr.
The world's Catholic leader, while repeating his words, said: "War is always a defeat, the only winners of which are the weapons manufacturers."
