Ali Nejati, a retired worker and board member of the Haft Tapeh Workers' Union, who was released from prison on medical leave in February of last year, was summoned to the Evin Prosecutor's Office.
The Telegram channel of the Kalameh website reported on Thursday, May 16, that Ali Nejati, a member of the board of directors of the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers' Union, was summoned to the Evin Prosecutor's Office via a phone call and text message from the Seventh Branch of the Evin Prosecutor's Office, investigating Shahid Moghaddisi.
According to this report, Mr. Nejati must present himself to this branch within four days for his final defense.
This labor activist was arrested at his home on November 28 of last year on charges of interfering in the Haft Tappeh sugarcane workers' strike, and after some time on February 28 of the same year, he was released from prison on medical leave due to a heart and respiratory condition.
In February of last year, Amnesty International called 2018 the Islamic Republic's "year of shame," announcing that more than seven thousand people, including protest participants, students, journalists, women's rights activists, environmental activists, labor activists, and ethnic and religious minority rights activists, had been arrested in Iran this year, and hundreds had been sentenced to prison.
A report by Amnesty International states that 467 workers were arrested in Iran in 2018.
