Illegal immigration through the English Channel has tripled

The number of migrants who illegally reached the UK via the English Channel has tripled in 2021. The Home Office says more than 28,300 people entered the country this way last year.

According to a report published by the British Home Office, the number of people who reached the UK by boat via the English Channel in 2021 was three times the number in 2020.

The British Home Office has announced in this report that the number of these people in 2021 was more than 28,300. While this figure was only about 8,000 in 2020.

According to the UK Home Office, most of these migrants crossed the Channel in November, despite the cold weather. The highest number recorded was on November 11, with 1,185 people.

On November 24, a boat carrying refugees sank in the English Channel, killing 27 people. Among the victims were 16 Iraqi Kurds and four Afghans.

Also, one of the victims was Sirvan Alipour, a 23-year-old Iranian from the city of Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was "horrified" by the tragedy.
