Nazanin Zaghari was transferred to the prison clinic after suffering a nervous breakdown.
Reports indicate that Nazanin Zaghari, who had recently returned to prison from leave, was transferred to the Evin Prison Clinic following nervous breakdowns.
British media reported on Wednesday, September 28, citing Ms. Zaghari's family and a political prisoner, that the prisoner had lost consciousness and been taken to a clinic after suffering two consecutive nervous attacks.
Richard Ratcliffe, Mrs. Zaghari's husband, confirmed to The Guardian that Mrs. Zaghari had been having nervous breakdowns in recent days, saying that one of her cellmates contacted Mrs. Zaghari's family and reported her second nervous breakdown on Wednesday morning.
According to Richard Ratcliffe, Ms. Zaghari's nervous breakdown on Tuesday caused, in addition to numbness in her legs, a severe headache and a sharp drop in blood pressure.
In response to Nazanin Zaghari's deteriorating health, Kate Allen, Amnesty International's UK director, said in a statement that what the Islamic Republic authorities are doing to Nazanin Zaghari is extremely cruel.
"Nazanin must be given immediate access to specialist medical care. Furthermore, she has been unjustly imprisoned and must be released immediately and unconditionally," the statement said.
Nazanin Zaghari, a British citizen of Iranian descent, who had been on a three-day leave to visit her family last week after serving 30 months in prison, returned to prison three days ago.
Richard Ratcliffe, Mrs. Zaghari's husband, had announced that the Iranian government did not agree to Nazanin Zaghari's request to extend her temporary leave.
The head of Amnesty International's UK office described the developments surrounding Nazanin Zaghari's leave as regrettable and painful.
The Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Court has sentenced Nazanin Zaghari to five years in prison on charges of acting against national security and teaching journalism. Ms. Zaghari denies the charges.
