Naser Hemmati, psychiatrist and civil activist, was sent to Isfahan's Dastgerd Prison

Dr. Naser Hemmati, a psychiatrist and civil rights activist from Abdanani (Ilam Province) and resident of Isfahan, was summoned and arrested on Tuesday, August 9.
Civil activists inside and outside Iran have reported that he was summoned to the prosecutor's office on Tuesday morning to serve a two-year prison sentence, arrested, and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
On the evening of January 24, Mr. Hemmati wrote on Twitter about his request to attend the protests on January 25. He was arrested a few days later, but was released on bail on January 1. He has been sentenced to two years in prison.
In his writings on social media, he was highly critical of the crackdown on protesters in November and the events that followed.
The nationwide protests of November 2019 began over the increase in gasoline prices, but quickly turned into slogans that questioned the entire system and the performance of the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Reuters reported that 1,500 people were killed in those protests. Iranian authorities have not yet released the exact death toll from the November protests.
