Leak of more than "six million receipts" from an Iranian online shipping company

Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology confirmed on Thursday reports that an internet transportation company had leaked information on more than six million trips.

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi wrote in a tweet that "the published report about the existence of a vulnerability in the storage of information of an internet shipping company is true. A supplementary investigation is underway and the report will be officially published through the Maher Center."

He did not provide further information about the incident or the name of the company in question. It is not yet clear when the information was leaked.

Some Twitter users have speculated that the information in question must have leaked from the data center of the internet taxi service "Tapsi".

The Security Discovery website reported that the information in question related to receipts issued to taxi passengers in 2016 and 2017.

According to this report, the number of leaked receipts in 2016 was about 700,000, which included information including names, national codes, and phone numbers of individuals.

The 2017 receipts, the information of which has also been leaked, exceed six million.

In recent years, online taxis have become very popular in Iran due to their cheapness and speed in transporting passengers. However, from time to time, news is published about changes in the regulations of these services or their poor performance.
