One person dies from coronavirus in Europe every 17 seconds

The World Health Organization has warned of an upward curve in the number of deaths from the coronavirus in Europe. In the past two weeks, the number of victims of the disease in Europe has increased by 18%, and one person dies every 17 seconds.

Many European countries have imposed strict restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but the death toll continues to rise.

On Thursday, November 19, Hans Kluge, the director of the World Health Organization's European division, announced an 18% increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe in two weeks at an online press conference in Copenhagen. He said 29,000 people had died in Europe in the past week, which means one person dies from the disease every 17 seconds.

France surpassed the two million mark for coronavirus cases before any other country, and 46,000 people have died from the virus since the outbreak began. The Italian Ministry of Health reported 34,283 new cases of coronavirus in one day on Wednesday, November 18. 753 people have died in Italy in the past day. The total number of deaths in the country since last winter is 47,217, and 1.27 million people have been infected with the coronavirus.

Today, Lothar Wieler, head of the Robert Koch Institute in Germany, once again called on people to follow the coronavirus regulations. He said that we have not yet passed the peak of the disease and that hospitals may be overwhelmed by the increasing number of patients. For this reason, it is necessary to prevent more citizens from contracting the coronavirus.
